Wind-up toys

Exploring actions to represent turning a key and moving quickly with lots of energy and eventually slowing down, running out of energy.

Key actions – this can be done with the whole body or individual body parts. Try different speeds, level and sizes of actions to turn the key.
Turn the key, move speed at speed 10 (as fast as you can) slowing down eventually to speed 1 (slow motion) then freeze. We will repeat this and try a different turning key action every time.

Move like a wind-up toy

Try out different dance actions in a robotic, jerky mechanical way to move like a wind-up toy. In a space respond to the instructions given.

Dance the motif as many times as you want to and use it to help you with your ideas for your own Old Toy dance.

Old Toys Dance

Using the ideas from the Old Toys PDF create your own Old Toys dance.

You can start with our motif and change it, add actions to it, or start with your own idea.

You can: –

Use Creative Steps Wind- up toy motif to start with
Change the order and maybe add in some extra actions
Add in key turning actions and traveling actions
Make a duet/group dance if you have other people to dance with at home – you could create a whole toy box/factory of old toys
Practice it as many times as you want with the music
