Creative Steps was born out the need for a dance resource kit for primary schools.

Alicia found it was the perfect way to marry her passion for creative dance and her enthusiasm for education.

We could see a gap in the schools’ provisions for dance and placed a high importance on creating a resource that would be simple to use and effective in enabling staff to deliver good quality creative dance classes.

Alicia Graham

Freelance Dance Artist

Alicia has been dancing ever since she could walk and has been fortunate enough to make a career out of her passion. After graduating she performed in the North West with two dance companies one of which was a Dance in Education company. Being part of that company sparked Alicia’s enthusiasm for dance in education.

Freelancing within primary and secondary schools encouraged Alicia to gain QTS and lead to an 8-year post at Lymm High School where she taught dance and drama to pupils in years 7 to 13. Over the past few years she has focussed her attention on ‘Dance Steps’ her own creative dance groups for both adults and children.

Alicia continues to work within education in secondary and primary schools and working with LiveWire delivering dance as part of their experience days. She also delivers projects in the community including ‘Dance to Health’ a falls prevention programme.

Alicia’s ethos is that dance should be creative and fun and allow a person to express themselves through movement. She enjoys a range of dance styles and tries to incorporate variety within her teaching. She enjoys getting people of all ages and abilities enthused about movement and dance.

When Alicia is not dancing she is a busy mum to three young children!
